Manoeuvred Matter

‘Manoeuvred Matter’ was Myers’ first gallery solo exhibition. The exhibition was held at Cardiff M.A.D.E gallery in Wales in March 2016. Curated by Zoë Gingell

Exhibition text:

There’s no negotiation with the work of Aidan Myers; it demands attention like a wallop to the chest, a body blow. How a 2 dimensional flat surface is able to convey a physical response of such power in the viewer is testament to the skill of Myers’ painterly ‘being’; which imprints his own responses to the process of what emerges, less as a remnant of his experience, but like a grand wizard, conducting a symphony of moving elements, we are ‘moved’ along with it – becoming the elements that spin and float, hover and fall, crash and splinter, both weighted and weightless.

Manoeuvred substance. Matter, the stuff of being both metaphorically and actually are his concerns, paint is the vehicle and he, the driver. Emotion, feeling, response, presence.  No small presence either, more a colossal giant’s footprint.

This is a Body of work represented here, quite literally. And it is timely. Manoeuvred Matter is the first solo exhibition for Myers following a prolific period since graduation which has seen his work exhibited in European cities as championed by London dealers, but it is in the city of Cardiff, where he has chosen to continue to make his work and his mark.
